Luke 24:13-32
This is Jesus heartburn(I have to credit Dallas Willard for this term!)...31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"

Defying Gravity

This weekend I had the opportunity to speak 2 times in my home town, first to a group of women from the church I grew up in and then to the seniors and their families at Baccalaureate. It was an amazing privilege to share what God has been doing in my life as He leads me to Sierra Leone.
This morning, as I drove back to St. Cloud, I found myself so excited about what is to come and this song came on my iPod (which I was listening to with one headphone...thanks AB for the idea, you are so smart for a college student:). The song is Defying Gravity from the musical Wicked, and though I can't say that this is the intended purpose for the song and for me it's much more about Christ and the wings that He gives me to defy gravity...I think it might be the theme song for me over the next month:

Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!

It's time to try
Defying gravity
I think I'll try
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I am defying gravity
And you wont bring me down!

I'm through accepting limits
''cause someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
